- The term evaluation will be based on My Teacher is an Alien. You may use your book as you answer the questions in the assessment notebook, so please don’t forget to bring both back after studying.
Go through the whole book again, and re-read chapters 19, 20 and 21 for reading comprehension questions.
- Review literary elements (Characters, plot, problem, solution, and their connection with theme and author’s purpose) of the story.
- Review past tense. Examples
Past simple:
- Affirmative: She went to the drugstore yesterday.
- Negative: She didn’t go to the drugstore yesterday, (remember that you need to use didn’t and the verb in present)
- Question: Did she go to the drugstore yesterday? (Remember the use of “did” and the verb goes in present / REMEMBER to use only “?”, “¿” does not exist in English.
Past progressive: use “was” and “were” and the verb in “ing” form.
Examples:
- She was feeling very nervous (affirmative) / She wasn’t feeling nervous (negative).
- They were planning to find out the truth They weren’t planning to find out the truth (negative).
Review present Simple tense:
- Affirmative: remember to use “s” for third person verbs in
- Negative: Remember to use “does” for third person and “do” for the rest, and leave your verb in present form.
- Question: Begin with “Does” or “Do”, and leave your verb in present form.
Examples:
- She plays the piccolo. – She doesn’t play the piccolo.
- They need to work fast. – They don’t need to work fast.
- Does he want to go?
Review present progressive tense:
- Affirmative: Remember to use “am”, “is” and “are” and the “ing” form of the verb.
- Negative: use “isn’t” and “aren’t” and the “ing” form of the verb.
- Question: Begin with “Am”, “Is” or “Are” and use the “ing” form of the verb.
Examples:
- She is feeling very scared.
- They aren’t behaving in a normal way.
- Is she worried about mom and dad?
- Think about the character’s actions in different moments in the story. How are they different from one another? How are they similar? How their choices did affected the solution of the problem?
- Review reading comprehension strategies, go through your reading comprehension and writing processes. Are you using a particular strategy to help you improve this process? How? (think about reading and writing as a life experience, not only for English class)
